The top of the podium became home to Canada’s Terence Yeung in Linz, Austria. The young man from Toronto who trains at Table Tennis Canada’s National High Performance Centre at the Markham PANAM Centre won his first major junior event. The annual Austrian Youth Open is among the largest junior competition worldwide. Players from France, Germany, Czech Republic, Luxembourg and Hungary were among the competition.

After a close call in the Round of 16 against Frenchman Leo Du Mesnil Adelee, trailing 0:2, Yeung came back to win the match at deuce in the fifth. Now on a mission, Yeung made it to the Finals where faced Johann Koschmieder of Germany. On fire, Yeung disposed of the German by a score of 3:0.

Following Linz, Yeung will travel to Germany for a two week training camp with one of Germany’s top coaches, Dirk Wagner and thereafter, Yeung will join his Canadian team mates at the Senior World Team Championships in Halmstad, Sweden.
