Tang Host Referee Training During the Ontario Open
During the Ontario Open last weekend, in a small conference
room at the Monte Carlo Hotel, Joe Fisher and Norman Tang taught Basic Certification Referee Training, Level
A to 12 table tennis enthusiasts.
Four had signed up to write the “Level A” National Referee exam, while
the other eight took on the “Level B” Provincial Referee Exam.
The course, covered tiebreaks, competition structures, clothing
rules, court requirements, racket testing, and finally draws. Each unit started with a lesson, then a
question period, and finally an in class activity.
The participants, who passed the exam, are on the pathway to
become a full referee. The next step
will be to complete a practical training period to fulfill the final requirements.
